Graeme Earl: Why I Support CHI

Prof. Graeme Earl, University of Southampton, UK

I am a professor in the Archaeological Computing Research Group at the University of Southampton, UK.

I have a long-standing collaborative relationship with Cultural Heritage Imaging (CHI), whom I see as leaders in the field of computational photography and archival data.

CHI needs and deserves your financial support. Why do I say this?

The CHI team works at the nexus of cultural conservation, scientific imaging, and data archiving. I see their efforts as key to the future of cultural heritage collections. I have witnessed the technologies fostered by CHI, notably RTI, applied to archaeological collections as diverse as Roman textiles, Paleolithic hand axes, and Neolithic art.

In addition, CHI supports a thriving research community characterized by a refreshing degree of collaboration and openness. Their colleagues revere CHI’s “do the right thing” principle of democratizing the technology they develop.

Like me, you may recognize the importance of CHI’s work. When you make a donation to CHI, you are supporting a future of groundbreaking discoveries in archaeology and our human history.
